until i read this, i thought i was the only soul to have been in that Bermagui cafe on that outrageous and fateful night.i can still see the bloodied toilet tiles like it was tomorrow.
i treated it all as a dream until now,
maybe it was?
the death was really an accident, but at least i wasn't the only poor bastard to have gone though that stuff.
in some strange way it was reassuring to read someone else's account of that weird period of time and spaces.
even if he did get a lot of it wrong.
fancy leaving your destinies to a couple of ferrets! (space commander - oh, spare me please!)
i shouldn't laugh though.
i've been running ever since ...
and without Cartesian dualism, Al Turing would have gone straight and gotten a real job.
where would we all be now?

This cleverly constructed fantasy provides an entertaining journey to ?? the future, whilst making many links to the past. At the end of the journey I found I had become very fond of the variety of characters and was quite prepared to believe in their improbable existence.
These characters include a laconic Space Fleet Commander; his Artificial Intelligence enhancing chip, named Memo; some AI enhanced ferrets and some other creatures who are enhanced by the mysterious Thalia force; various computers and battle Drones, one of which becomes the narrator for a while; Spacers, spaced-out pilots of the vastness of space. I am chuckling as I recall these characters, and there are more...
There is space travel, battle scenes, romance, mystery and a murder.
Of course it is the author's ability to weave his story through our experience of contemprary culture that makes it entertaining. This is a book to engage your mind, and the space narrative is the vehicle through which it is so cleverly done.
Getting out of the way of the common and entering the weird and wonderful is very good for one's mental health
